Since 2014, one of the milestones of the artistic year has taken place every autumn under the impetus of the Emerige Endowment Fund. This is the Emerige Revelations Bursary, awarded to a young artist on the French scene, the winner among 11 artists selected for an exhibition of their work in emblematic venues.
In this kind of approach, there's a real dynamic of support for emerging artists. Emerger - what a program! The origin of this word is emergentia, appearance, visibility, from the Latin verb emergo: to come out of, to show oneself. In turn, the root of the Greek word for emergence sheds light on the subject: phaínō, to appear, to manifest in an obvious way, the origin of the word "epiphany". An emerging artist is one whose presence is felt, whose work is beginning to be seen, whose career is on the way up. It's not something that can be taken for granted, and support for initiatives in this direction is often decisive.
The Emerige Bourse de Révélations is paradigmatic of this type of patronage. It's not just about supporting the emerging scene by providing artists with the means to be seen. Involving leading galleries, on the one hand, and bringing art closer to all audiences, from top collectors to schoolchildren, on the other, honors a certain idea of the elite in its noblest dimension: you have to be eligible to be among the chosen. Emerige, whose very name phonetically evokes emergence, is one of the players who make this possible.
