April is an eventful month in Paris for collectors, art lovers and market professionals, with a series of fairs highlighting the diversity and richness of the contemporary art scene. From Art Paris to UnRepresented, four events confirm the French capital's essential place on the international art scene.
Art Paris, a celebration of Modern and Contemporary Art
Art Paris 2024 stands out as a key spring event in Paris. This year's show brings together 136 modern and contemporary art galleries from 25 countries, including 30% new exhibitors. The balance between French and foreign art galleries seems to have been maintained, with 60% for the former and 40% for the latter. This edition, the 26th, celebrates regional and cosmopolitan art, with a particular focus on the French art scene. Under the themes "Fragile Utopias" and "Art & Craft", curated by Éric de Chassey and Nicolas Trembley respectively, the fair explores fragile utopias through French art and the intersection between art and craft. A new prize, the Prix Banque Privée BNP Paribas, endowed with 30,000 euros, rewards an artist selected within the framework of the "Fragile Utopias" theme. All media are represented, from photography and engraving to ceramics, which is very much in evidence this year. Monographs by modern artists such as Jean Hélion reflect current events at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris. The Promesses sector is dedicated to young galleries less than six years old and to emerging creation: each of the selected galleries can present up to three artists on its stand, their participation fees being partially covered by the fair. With a record attendance in 2023 (81,857 visitors), Art Paris continues to support the French art scene while promoting access to contemporary art for a broad public.

UnRepresented, the emerging contemporary art scene revealed
UnRepresented, the innovative fair dedicated to unrepresented artists, celebrates its second edition in early April at Le Molière, in the heart of Paris. From April 5 to 7, this event brings together a committed community of collectors around 15 solo exhibitions. Produced by Approche, UnRepresented aims to reveal and support the talent of emerging and established artists outside the traditional circuits. The initiative marks a deep commitment to contemporary creation, offering unique visibility to independent artistic voices, supported by 15 passionate collectors. The platform stands out for its inclusive approach, democratizing access to contemporary art and challenging the conventions of the art market.

PAD Paris, the reference for Design and Decorative Arts
Created in 1998, PAD is the world'sleading design fair and the founding event for international design collectors. After 24 editions, it remains the most important event, bringing together the best international and French galleries of historic and contemporary design. This year, the PAD is broadening its horizons by welcoming fifteen new international galleries. Under the chairmanship of interior designer Jacques Grange, a panel of experts, curators, architects and decorators with a passion for design will award three prizes: the Stand Prize, the Contemporary Design Prize and the Historic Design Prize.

Urban Art Fair, urban art in all its forms
Urban Art Fair is the first international fair dedicated to urban art, created in 2016 by Yannick Boesso, president and founder. For the past six years, the event has been held in the Carreau du Temple hall in the heart of Paris. Each year, the fair brings together some thirty French and international galleries to showcase the work of over 200 artists. The program includes off-site exhibitions, live performances, artist signings on all media, lecture series featuring street artists and internationally renowned speakers, and short-film screenings. Urban art, an increasingly recognized and appreciated artistic movement, this year joins the Centre Pompidou in Paris, with the official announcement of the acquisition of eight emblematic works by French artist Gérard Zlotykamien.
